Lync Server 2013 - SQL Server Clustering

Lync Server 2013 came with many Architectural changes in design and deployment and one of the notable change is the discontinuation of SQL clustering and support for SQL Mirroring for Back End Database High Availability.

This change made Organizations that already implemented SQL Clustering to have some pain and plan to switchover to SQL Mirroring to make it as a supported solution for Back End Database high availability when migrating to Lync Server 2013. Now Microsoft team has received updates from the Clients and decided to support both SQL Mirroring and SQL Clustering for Back end database high availability.

Today Messaging & UC Consultant Byron O. Spurlock has written an excellent post on Windows IT Pro website under the topic "Lync Server 2013 Now Supports SQL Server Clustering" where he clearly explains about the scenarios of having these solutions in place, their feature differences, usage and much more in a nutshell.
