This is the latest issue reported by users who has installed the September 2013 public update for Microsoft Office 2013 which caused the Folder pane to show an empty display with Outlook 2013.
This is hottest topic among the Office 2013 users and most of the MVPs has tweeted and Microsoft team has finally pulled the update back and stated they are working towards addressing the issue and will re-publish the update.
